The board and staff of Historic Fort Worth, Inc. deeply appreciate the generous gift from The Ryan Foundation that made it possible to develop the first electronic version of the Tarrant County Historic Resources Survey©: Phase III, Fort Worth’s Southside. This book was printed in 1986 and became the property of Historic Fort Worth, Inc. in 1998, as a gift from the former Preservation Council of Tarrant County. During 2006, 2007 and 2008 Historic Fort Worth’s Resources & Recognitions Committee members, staff and consultant have updated the information to include demolitions since 1986, buildings that are now over 50 years old, and other historic resources.
Significant properties in Fort Worth’s Southside that are at least 50 years old are included, along with a brief written history and photograph(s). The updated survey includes some properties that are less than 50 years old but were documented because they have the potential to be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places when they do reach 50 years of age or because they have a strong association with a specific location.
This survey information is dynamic; Historic Fort Worth is constantly updating the information. If you have additional information you’d like to see added to the survey, or you have a recommended correction, please email the information to PRC@historicfortworth.org. We appreciate your help in keeping this survey of historic resources up-to-date and accurate.
